Lighting System
The lighting system is composed by two continuous solid state diode lasers and is protected by a UPS system.
One is a Millenia Pro 15, Spectra Physics, whose characteristics are:
- wavelength: 532 nm
- Output power: ranging from 0.07 to 15 W
- Tem: 00
- divergency: < 0.5 mrad
- beam diameter: 2.3 mm
- Digital remote control through RS232
- water chilled
- vertical polarization
The other is a Opus 6W , Laser Quantum, whose characteristics are:
- wavelength: 532 nm
- Output power: ranging from 0.01 to 6.5 W
- Tem: 00
- divergency: < 0.4 mrad
- beam diameter: 1.85 +- 0.2 mm
- Digital remote control through RS232
- water chilled
- horizontal polarization
The laser beam is expanded in a laser sheet (that can be both vertical and horizontal) through semicilindrical concave lenses with different focal point.
The vertical sheets (maximum horizontal dimension of about 25 cm) can be produced in three different locations disposed as a "y" in the tank floor, while the horizontal sheet can illuminate almost everywhere with sizes that can extend up to about 1.5 m².
